The Hunter 28 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a fractional rig rig, a raked stem, a reverse transom, an internally-mounted spade-type rudder controlled by a wheel and a fixed wing keel. It displaces 7,400 lb. (3,357 kg) and carries 2,800 lb. (1,270 kg) of ballast.
The boat has a draft of 3.75 ft (1.14 m) with the standard wing keel fitted. The boat is fitted with a Japanese Yanmar Diesel engine of 18 hp The fuel tank holds 18 U.S. gallons (68 L; 15 imp gal) and the fresh water tank has a capacity of 30 U.S. gallons (110 L; 25 imp gal)

Aménagement
The galley is L Shaped amid ships to maximize counter top surface as well as storage. Included are a deep stainless steel sink with pressure hot and cold water, a flush mounted two burner alcohol stove, and a top loading refrigerator & microwave. There is storage below and outboard for galley equipment. Upholstery is fabric and this boat sleeps four in two double berths, one of which is in the private aft cabin. The hinged dining table is designed to serve both sides of the main salon. There is plenty of storage under the berths as well as in enclosed lockers The washroom is private from the main salon and has a marine head with a holding tank, vanity sink, hanging locker and an angled vanity mirror. The V berth is a double for two adults. There is an aluminum framed Plexi-glass overhead hatch to enhance the lighting and ventilation. Modern designed cockpit with walk-thru transom. Large lazerette to starboard.
