Commissioned and 1st floated in 1998 the first owners were family from Essex, we bought Meridiana from them in April 2000, and have found her to be an ideal family sailing yacht. We have enjoyed so many lovely holidays on her, but now our children have grown up it is time for us to sell.
We spent our first two years in the Solent, regularly sailing over to Northern France and the Channel Islands for holidays and long weekends. We then sailed to Northern Spain and then round to Barcelona. In 2003 we sailed to Greece, the Ionian and the Aegean islands and on to Turkey before returning to Barcelona in 2005. Since then we regularly sail the Costa Brava, western Mediterranean and south down the Eastern coast of Spain, but our favourite trip is the lovely reach over to Balearics to spend a few weeks visiting the islands.
Just the two of us [husband and wife team] have comfortably sailed many miles. The auto pilot is reliable and she’s not difficult to handle when light handed.
A guide around Meridiana: A passerelle which can be attached fore or aft makes for convenient embarking and disembarking, and once on board the first thing to enjoy is the large cockpit with beech wood seating areas and a bimini that covers and protects the whole cockpit. Having the bimini and a large spray hood you are well protected from sun, wind and rain while in port, and as comfortable as reasonably possible when sailing. The bimini has a Perspex inset [with zipped cover] which allows the helm to easily see the sails when underway. It packs up quickly and easily into a neat cover, if it is not wanted when sailing. There is an inner forestay, working jib and storm jib ready for when things get lively. All deck hatches have canvas covers for grip when working and sun protection. The deck mounted life raft is fitted with a canvas cover.
A nice wide companionway takes you down to the saloon. The saloon is spacious, with seating and dining area for at least 8 people. We have often squashed 10+ adults and children inside to enjoy a meal easily cooked in the galley with its generous Plasimo gas cooker with 2 burners. The box type refrigerator is so large it is a challenge to fill it up! Two round sinks and plenty of working surfaces make preparation and then clearing up quick and easy. Storage is not a problem as there is no shortage of kitchen cupboards and draws. There is loads of storage around this yacht.
The comfortable seating around the saloon table, which does convert to a bed if needed, we use as a bed on long passages as it’s quick and easy to get into the cockpit when called, and the wall shelves with fiddles lend themselves to many a relaxed evening, chatting, playing board games and enjoying whatever is your choice of après sail.
Having two marine toilets, both with good cupboard space and one with a shower, cuts down the queuing when there is a large party on board.
The two aft cabins are well ventilated and lit, have hanging lockers & shelving and sleep two people in each.
The bunk room has lights over each bunk, 1 hanging locker, 2 smaller lockers; 1 port window and 1 deck hatch.
The forepeak has a generous double berth, double hanging locker and seating area, and deck hatch.
