George Buehler, the designer, has a great eye for drawing a hull that can travel through the seas equally at ease quietly under power or silently via her sail plan. There are many Diesel Duck sister ships out exploring the globe. In addition to their looks, they share a robust steel construction which provides the strength to cross oceans in safety.
Mauri was built in Turkey by the Asboat Yacht Building yard to take advantage of the craftsmanship available and as you look at her photos you will see she has been beautifully built. An enjoyable project, the original owner has now listed her for sale after only very light use…after determining that a larger boat would better suit the family cruising plans.
Mauri’s interior layout easily sleeps eight people. Even below deck there is a generous amount of natural light and air through (fixed and opening) windows, portlights and deck hatches. The use of mahogany finishes and natural teak flooring keep the interior spaces feeling open and airy. The amount of storage in lockers and drawers throughout is exceptional.

The Diesel Duck 47 will appeal to a cruising couple who want the safety of shorthanded sailing along with the reliability of a well-constructed hull. With her cabin arrangement there is a nice variety of accommodations to take along a family and / or crew as you go exploring.
The easiest way to get aboard from your dinghy is from the transom swim platform. If you are moored at a dock, there are ladders to the side decks. The swim platform is a secure area and the large hatches you see open up into the aft master stateroom.
On deck, Mauri is easy to move about and shares many of the best features of a cruising sailboat with double walking side decks and tall life lines. She has a windlass and anchor forward with suitable ground tackle. There are two masts with sails so that you can make way in any breeze – sailing along in peace and quiet until the wind softens and it is time to power along.
The raised pilothouse features reverse raked windows forward and offers excellent visibility. Stationed behind the house is a nice outdoor deck area.
Inside the pilothouse you have plenty of seating and a commanding view. There is a desk forward to port and the helm controls with bench seat is forward to starboard.
The enclosed pilothouse is the ideal location to pilot this yacht, protected from the elements and with a comfortable chair from which you can easily reach all of the necessary controls. The visibility in the pilothouse is exceptional in all directions.
From the pilothouse you go down forward to the saloon level. The saloon is a great place to relax and connects to the galley outboard to port.
The master stateroom is aft, with an island berth and its own head and shower. This is a full beam master with a large amount of space and a very comfortable place to sleep either underway or at anchor.

The galley is ideal for cooking meals underway, you are in a secure area to port with great access to appliances and plenty of lockers and drawers for convenient storage.
All the way forward is a large VIP guest stateroom with island berth and there is a separate head and shower.

The Diesel Duck 47 is an exceptional passage maker and has been described as a “sail-assisted” trawler- she truly shares many of the highlights from sail and power - merged together into an extraordinary and versatile offshore package. The engine room is on centerline (inboard from the galley and below the pilothouse) and includes a work bench area outboard to starboard. The engine room is accessed through an inboard door in the galley hallway. This is an easy engine room to move around in with standing headroom is most areas.
