Freedom is a 2013 38’ Armstrong open water passenger & cargo landing craft. She has just completed a relatively short service contract and is on the market. Her hydraulic drop down door, shallow draft and proven stable load carrying catamaran hull design give her the ability to safely transport 2.5 tons of cargo and passengers across open water and then gently nestle up to even the shallowest beaches for off-loading.
Her full width cabin with generous 6’4″ headroom is warmed by a Wabasto forced air diesel furnace to keep condensation down and the windows defrosted on cold wet passages. Forward slanting wheelhouse windows with independently controlled wiper keeps visibility clear for captain and reduce sun glare on those summer days. The helm seat is fitted to reduce captain’s fatigue on long passages. The cabin comes equipped with bench seating for 6 and overhead grabs rails on cabin centerline to offer passengers standing or moving about the cabin support on rough crossings. Teak trim not usually found on work boats bring a nice touch of upscale style to her cabin.
She is enjoys a large cargo space equipped with tie down pockets and plenty of self-draining scuppers for safety. The convenience of a full width hydraulic drop bow door makes quick work of loading and unloading cargo and passengers.
Freedom is powered by twin reliable BF 250HP Honda outboards driving 3 blade stainless steel props. These engines are practically new with less than 500 hrs. and are preferred by the coast guard because of their low break down rate and longevity. These outboards will push her along at 33 knots fully loaded to make transit times short and keep your crew working rather than sitting on a boat. The catamaran hulls along with trim tabs help balance the load no matter what the sea conditions. Twin 150 gallon aluminum fuel tanks give her a total of 300 gallons so the range you need is there and helps to reduce wasted time at the fuel pumps.
Freedom’s electronics package is built around the well-respected Garmin 4212 with coastal maps and integrated with the Garmin 18″ 4 kw HD Radar so you know where you are and what’s around even in the densest fog. Communications are supplied by an Icom 412 VHF Radio.
The electrical system uses a standard 30amp service with battery charger connected to 2 start batteries and house battery. Installed in 2013 they have many years left in them.
She comes ready to go with a full inventory of safety equipment that includes:
Rule 2000 bilge pumps and float switches, USCG Certified first Aid Kit, USCG Approved Life Preservers, (1)Smoke Detector, (1) Carbon Monoxide Detector, (1) USCG Type B-1 fire Extinguisher, (2) USCG Type 5 fire Extinguishers, 8 Passenger Viking Life Raft.
Freedom is the kind of boat perfect to put into service for bathymetric and seismic survey, wildlife study or capture & release, offshore vessel support, search, rescue and medical transport, or marine logistics & management vessel. No matter what your use, this is the kind of working vessel that gives your business or team the tools it needs to stay ahead of the competition and get the job done.
