The Catbird 16 is a cruising sharpie ideal for day sailing, beach cruising or camping aboard. With her shallow draft she can explore those pieces of paradise which are inaccessible to larger boats. Easily sailed by a single skipper, she can accommodate 3-4 persons comfortably in her open cockpit. The package includes everything you need to get sailing today. Her inventory includes all sails, spars, rigging, custom fitted canvas cover, two varnished wood paddles, Danforth anchor with 100 ft of anchor line, dock lines, fenders, two PFD cushions and she sits on a Venture VB-1100 bunk trailer. Little Queen has been sailed two summers since her launching in 2007. Click on the Full Specs for more details and then call for an appointment to see her.

Little Queen's hull is made of mahogany marine plywood assembled using super-strong, leak free, stitch-and-glue construction. Her hull is sheathed with fiberglass and painted with glass urethane enamel. Seats, floor boards and rails are all solid Philippine mahogany and are left natural for easy care. Fasteners and hardware are stainless steel or bronze.
The Cat Ketch is a simple and balanced sail plan which spreads the sails along the length of the boat on two masts. The low center-of-effort afforded by the fore and aft spread of sail produces less heeling force. Free standing masts require no rigging making them quick to rig and unrig. They also offer an innate degree of safety: the masts bend during gusts, flattening the sail and de-powering the rig.
Little Queen’s masts are lightweight hollow spars made from spruce sealed with epoxy and reinforced at the base with fiberglass cloth.
Little Queen was built by master boat builders Jim Ritter and Ricardo Vicente. Her owner, a professional sign painter and Wooden Boat School alumnus, took part in the building and finish work and continues to maintain her.
