The Rampage 38 Express is designed for the serious offshore fisherman while still keeping in mind the comfort of the crew. The 2004 Rampage 38 kept the classic offshore lines of earlier models, while changes were made to improve the helm and saloon areas after a lot of research on what serious fishermen wants and needs in a sportfisher.
The cockpit is completely unobstructed, and large enough to work a few fish at the same time. The gunwales on the cockpit are padded, and at just the right height.
Two large fish boxes with macerator pumps are flush mounted in the sole of the cockpit, and forward in the cockpit is a sink with a tackle storage area below.
The saloon area below deck offers a getaway full of creature comforts. The galley area is redesigned with more space in the food prep and sink area, and plenty of storage below. The cabinet doors are wood, which gives the galley a warm and elegant feel. The dining area seats 4-5 comfortably in a wraparound booth seat, in the middle of which is the dining table.
Forward in the saloon is the berth area, which can sleep four adults comfortably with lighting and privacy curtain.
To the port side of the saloon is the head which has a full-size shower with a half-round Plexiglas door separating it from the sink and toilet area.
The entire cockpit of the Rampage 38 Express’s floor is hydraulically raised exposing an immaculate engine compartment. The two 500-hp Yanmar 6V+CXM-GTE's have been allowed plenty of space to work in and around them. On the port side of the engine room is the Onan 5Kw generator, and directly forward in the engine room is the fire suppression system. All wiring, fuel lines, battery boxes, and plumbing are neat, and have been installed with ease of servicing in mind. The engine bilge is a one-piece moulded fiberglass tray that will contain fluid spills and makes cleaning up extremely easy.
The Rampage 38 Express has been designed and solidly built specifically to handle rough weather. The core of the hull is made of pre-impregnated end-grain balsa and features double bulkhead construction providing superior durability and insulating qualities. The center console helm is hinged for easy access to wiring and features full instrumentation with plenty of room for optional electronics, a high windshield with an electrically actuated center-vent, and spacious L-shaped seating. This boat has great fishability with two giant fish boxes, a custom 55-gallon baitwell, and a swing-out transom door with top lid. Two built-in tackle centers offer a total of eight, large slide-out storage drawers with adjustable dividers, gasketed and lockable covers, a molded fiberglass sink with spray nozzle, a cutting board, and a cooler box. The 38 Express is also quick to plane thanks to her efficient 19-degree deep-V hull. With a 400-gallon fuel capacity, this boat offers excellent cruising range. A power actuated engine hatch makes engine inspections and service easy, and features double electric rams, a full fiberglass liner, and diamond plate flooring. Belowdecks, the 38 Express features cherry wood finish and gold hardware throughout; a U-shaped dinette that converts to a second double berth; a spacious and comfortable forward double V-berth with rod storage; a well-equipped galley with stainless steel sink, refrigerator, microwave / convection oven, and ample storage; and a full-sized head featuring a tile floor, a separate standup shower with circular door, and a built-in vanity with sink, and storage.
