The Swan 112 , the largest of the Swans, is designed to be run by a crew of just four; the battery of concealed captive reel winches for her halyards and sheets place their own demands on the hydraulic system. The bow thruster, the anchor windlasses, rig controls, and even the operation of the boarding ladder and passarelle all had to be considered. To cope with such substantial demands on power, her two Northern Light 35kw generators produce 3 phase 400 volt power with minimal levels of sound and vibration. Sound deadening solutions were also used, along with vibration absorbing hydroelastic seatings. All through the interior of the boat, every noise emitting piece of equipment has been taken care of. Even the wet exhaust systems for both the main engine and the generators are fitted with gas - water separators, and the water is discharged unobtrusively below the waterline. To ensure an efficient distribution of power throughout the 47, function hydraulic installation - a power logic control system - was incorporated. The hull represents an industry size record for a glass fiber molding. Built using female molds, the Swan 112's hull consists of a solid laminate using a combination of multiaxial rovings and stiffened with stringers containing unidirectional fibers. The major structural bulkheads are foam-cored and fitted into the hull before she is released from the mold. This system ensures accuracy and rigidity in her hull during the build process - a feature of every Swan. The standard accommodation arrangement houses a party of six in three luxurious staterooms towards the aft part of the yacht. Forward of the mast lies the accommodation for the four crew. The raised saloon configuration has two entertainment areas and offers superb panoramic views through strong, tinted and laminated glass windows. The substantial guest cockpit area provides comfortable seating for up to twelve on two L-shaped sofas.
