The Truly Classic 65 Rita was built in 1999 by Holland Jachtbouw in the wood core composite construction method. This is a strong and light construction method and as maintenance free construction as GRP. She is a very well equipped and specified yacht for shorthanded automated sailing. During the years she has benefited from a series of upgrading and refits which is reflected in her immaculate condition
The yacht has 6 cylinder very quietly running 190 HP Steyer engine. Moreover the yacht comes with a complete w set of B+G instruments. The yacht is fitted with an aluminium Reckmann boom and hydraulic in mast furling fully vertically battened mainsail, two furling headsails and an MPS.
The (original) design shows a flush deck with classical details, a classically lined deckhouse, a nice sheer, spoon bow and a long transom overhang. The deckhouse and the two guest cabins in the aft ship are laid out in such a way that optimal use of the available space is achieved. The deckhouse includes a navigation station, a settee and a wet locker. One of the big advantages of the concept of this yacht is that the yacht can be navigated from the deckhouse and at the same time this area can be used as social area for a drink or a meal, enabling a clear view outside. The interior shows an open plan saloon and forward of the mast bulkhead an owner’s cabin. The Truly Classic designs have classic and timeless design combined with an underwater design and sail plan which has been extensively optimised to a modern configuration by for example a so called velocity prediction programs in which keel, rudder and sailing performances are optimised.
Having sold this Truly Classic to her current owners, she is well known to us. Built in
1999 by Holland Jachtbouw for a very experienced German Yachtsman, who named
her Duva, this Hoek Design is arguably the finest example of the Truly Classic series.
In 2008/2009 she went through a major refit by her second German owner who
named her Maranatha, which extended to a new engine, complete revision of the
hydraulic system, and a great deal of paint and varnish work putting her into an as
new condition. She was not re-commissioned until 2013 when her current owners
acquired her. Since taking ownership the current owners took her to the Caribbean on
her own bottom and returned by ship. They have continued invest in her by installing
air-conditioning, upgrading the sail wardrobe along with many other additions.
She has had the benefit of a being professionally maintained and updated over the
last couple of years.
The Truly Classic 65 is a timeless classic which benefits from modern foils, modern
systems providing the very best of both worlds. Any potential owner looking for this
type of Yacht, this is an absolute must to view. Viewing can easily be arranged in
Lymington Yacht Haven. Lymington is about 90 minute drive from Heathrow or 120
minutes Gatwick and is only 35 minutes from Southampton Airport.
