This Bruce Farrin finished BHM 32 has been nicely finished and upgraded and well cared for. Her 2000 hour engine servicing was just completed. Single 300hp Cat (2000 hour servicing just completed) provides up to a 14 knot cruise and her single stateroom galley down configuration with an open airy salon provides comfortable accommodations for cruising. We have 100 high resolution photos, please call and we will send you a CD.
This BHM 32 has accommodations for two in a single stateroom galley down layout and is finished "Herreshoff Style" with varnished Mahogany trim on white flat panels. Great natural light and ventilation with 6 opening ports, 1 large hatch and 2 smaller hatches and 4 sliding as well as several fixed windows. All opening windows, ports and hatches have screens. When natural light is not enough there are several overhead dome style lights throughout. Two heating systems will take the chill off whenever necessary. A Heatercraft "bus type" heater which uses a loop off the engine will warm the boat when underway or within an hour or two while the engine is still warm. The vessel is also fitted with an Espar diesel cabin heat unit that may be run at any time. Headroom is 6'-4" in the salon and 6-3" below
Starting forward is the Forward Cabin with a 6'-6" V-berth below which there is bin type storage. Above the berth the hull is lines with a noise absorbing fabric and then full length varnished mahogany underdeck storage cubbies. Additional storage is found in smaller mahogany shelves at the aft bulkhead.
Next aft and to port is the Galley featuring laminate type counter tops with a single basin stainless steel sink with pressure H&C water and manual fresh water, storage in lockers with shelves outboard and in spice rack type shelving above. Chilled food stuffs are handled in the Norcold dual voltage refrigeration unit with small freezer compartment. Cooking is done off the Force 10 Propane 2 burner stove with oven.
Opposite to starboard is the enclosed Head with laminate topped vanity with single basin stainless sink with pressure H&C water, storage in 4 lockers and manual W.C. plumbed via a Y valve to the holding tank.
Up three steps to the Salon/Wheelhouse featuring 6' settee aft and to port (with storage under) with free standing dining table that conveniently stows to starboard when not in use. Aft and to starboard is a varnished mahogany bureau and bookshelf. The Helm Station is forward and to starboard with all navionics and other vessel controls. A particularly nice feature on this BHM 32 is the adjoining side door allowing immediate access to the side decks. A centerline door aft provides egress to the cockpit. Helm and navigator/companion seating is provided by two tall directors chairs.
The cockpit is full width with three lazarettes below. A transom door to the swim platform is to starboard and it is an easy step up to the side decks leading forward with convenient hand holds.
This BHM 32 got a virtually wholesale electronics replacement in 2014/15. All electronics are located at or within easy reach of the starboard side helm station.
Caterpillar 3116 showing 2070 hours as of the date of listing (4/18/16) turns a 4 bladed 28 X 25" bronze propeller on a 2" shaft through a Twin Disc 2.5:1 reduction gear. Prior due diligence by the current owner shows that this engine is not affected by the 3116 "soft block" problems and the 2000 hour servicing was just completed on 4/12/16 by Alban Cat.
Extensive amounts of Soundown insulation was used to make this BHM 32 as quiet as possible; as follows, 2" in engine compartment overhead, forward and aft engine bulkheads insulated, headliners.
A sea trial with 3 people onboard, full fuel and water was conducted on 4/14/16 with the following speeds noted:
Wired for both 12 volt DC and a more simple 120 Volt AC service.
12 Volt DC
110 Volt AC:
Solid fiberglass hull laid up with vinylester resin for superior blister resistance and finished with white gel-coat in very good condition and black Awlgripped boot stripe. The bottom is finished with blue Ultima ECO self polishing anti-fouling. Spray rails, quarter rails, and stainless steel capped toe rails and rub rails are of PVC.
The deck is partially end grain balsa cored and is finished with molded in non-skid. Stainless grab rails on house top and stainless handholds on cabin side provide ease of access fore and aft.
The centerline lazarette is fitted with a "clean out port". This is an app 1' wide tube that extends above the waterline and allows the crew to remove its lid and reach down to the prop and shaft to clear it if heavily fouled with fishing gear.
Throughout, the BHM 32 GROWLTIGER, is a well thought out, pragmatic, and well maintained down east styled cruising vessel and comes highly recommended
