The Ericson 38 is the fastest performance cruising yacht built by Pacific Seacraft. The hull lines are clean, not tortured for the sake of interior volume. The "cranky" tricycle effect brought about by a disproportionately large stern is absent. The tall double spreader rig, in combination with inset shrouds and ample inboard genoa track, is efficient and also results in wide side decks, for easier (and safer) fore and aft movement. The deck layout has been designed to minimize effort. A generous winch complement includes a dedicated reefing winch, main and genoa halyards, mainsheet and self-tailing sheet winches. The fine-entry forward flares out for added lift when sailing to weather which allows you to carry a load for extended cruising and gives a drier ride. Her mid-section is broad and slightly flattened to carry her load and help with stability and speed. The deep fin keel is cast of lead and bolted through the hull with stainless steel bolts to the massive framework of the Tri-Axial Force Grid, a carefully planned framework that unites the hull into a load bearing structure for the mast, keel and chainplates. There is also the option of a Delta Wing Keel for shoal draft that still maintains performance. The balanced spade rudder offers easy control at the helm. All through-hulls are flush-mounted bronze.
