A GREAT LIVE ABOARD!
Boarding the 3988 is a breeze through the large transom door that leads you into a good-sized cockpit. Here you will find a sliding door that leads to the spacious main salon. Another great feature is the large hatch that gives you direct access to the engine room. Large in-deck hatches give you easy access to the generator and storage. Bayliner’s engineers really excelled when it came to the interior design of this model. The main salon is a multi-level with an open concept, U-shaped galley to starboard. An L-shaped convertible sofa is off to port and further forward an elevated dinette area offers additional seating.
Aft and port you will find easy access to the main electrical panel. Also in this area you will find plenty of cupboard space and a built in ice – maker. The galley itself offers generous amounts of counter space and storage. Other features include a large double sink, a three burner stove with oven, and a good size microwave is mounted overhead. Another unique feature fond overhead is a small port that leads to the bridge – handy for handing a beverage or snacks to the skipper while underway. Just ahead of the galley, you will find the lower helm. The helm is actually laid out in a very simplistic manner and retains more of a subtle appearance in the main salon. Overall, this is a very functional control station with adequate 360- degree visibility.
Proceeding down a set of steps and moving forward, you will find to port the mid cabin. Once inside, you will find enough room for a changing area. The berth itself is large enough to sleep two adults comfortably, with ample storage and locker space. Just ahead of this cabin, you’ll find a convenient day head with the usual features. The master is located all the way forward and is comprised of a centerline island queen berth. Under the bed you will find six large drawers, along with several storage areas thorough the cabin. The master stateroom is also equipped with an ensuite head that features a bathtub, fitted under the lower helm.
Visibility from the upper helm is excellent and the full canvas enclosure provides ample protection from the elements. The helm itself is positioned off to port. Wraparound bench seating, with enough room for a good-sized crowd, fills up the remainder of the bridge. Seating at the helm, is comprised of two large side by side swivel seats. Just as the lower helm, the upper helm is laid out in a simplistic manner with ample room to surface or flush mount electronics.
