GEM as completed two Atlantic crossings and two Caribbean cruises. General layout is traditional schooner with aft cockpit. Interior is finished in mahogany and teak with white painted panels, beamed deckheads and teak& holly soles.
The companionway from the cockpit leads below to the deckhouse that contains the galley, navigation station and two quarter berths. A compartment beneath the cockpit contains generator and storage area. Proceeding forward from the deckhouse, down three steps, to starboard is the head which contains an electric toilet and a shower. Moving forward is the salon and dining area. A large teak table to starboard with seating for twelve. To port is a large double berth. Next forward is the master stateroom with a double berth to starboard and builtin cabinets and drawers.
Next forward is the foc'sle stateroom with two vee berths and access to the rope and chain lockers.
The Sail, Power & Steam Museum is a treasure trove of interesting and exciting displays. Located on the old Snow Shipyard property on the shores of Rockland Harbor, it is the only maritime museum in Maine located on an authentic, historic shipbuilding site. Inspect the builders models of amazing, huge, trading schooners and see the ways on which they were launched. View old images and photographs of these vessels under sail. Many displays are operating, "hands on" kind of objects. Engines- steam or make 'n break- ride in a Model T Ford- cruise Rockland Harbor on our 1914 Flagship or roam on our waterfront beach. There is lots to do at Sharp's Point South-SPS Museum.
