"Intrepid" is optimized for extended Pacific Northwest exploration.  Two heating systems, large fuel tanks, updated electronics, full cockpit enclosure, and big Rocna anchor will make a summer cruise to Alaska a reality in 2017 vs a long shopping spree at the local chandlery.  "Intrepid" is clean and scrupulously maintained.

Besides capturing the general arrangement and features of this boat, I've tried to convey some of the details that make the Sceptre 41 such a great boat. Let's start with the photo of the double anchor roller. One roller for cruising boats is simply not enough. Two rollers are a must. Just aft of the anchor rollers is a very large bow locker. Currently, there is a wash down hose, and chain snubber in this locker. There is plenty of space for dock lines and fenders, or other gear. When offshore, this is my favorite place to store trash. As far away as possible from the "living spaces" in a self contained locker where odors will not permeate the boat. It's also a nice place to keep that tank of outboard gasoline for the dinghy. Anchor chain is piped below the "V" berth, low and slighty aft of the bow locker.  Right at the companionway a very clever teak bridgedeck box stores halyard tails, provides a step and also a fold-down washboard as needed. The cockpit is "T" shaped. This allows one to easily walk around the wheel and sit outboard on the cockpit coaming while helming. Note the primary winches are just forward of the cockpit "T". Grinding is easy when one can stand over the winch, inside the cockpit, and standing on the sole rather than the settee. The primaries are also easily reached by the helmsman. But what about those warm, starry nights when sleeping in the cockpit might be enjoyable? There are teak infills(see photo)for the cockpit settees, that when topped by a cushion allow one to lie down on the settee in comfort. One can also see two other clever details in the cockpit photos. There are drainage gutters around the cockpit sole perimeter. This minimizes those annoying puddles from rain or spray. Note the sole is angled at the "T" areas allowing a level platform for helming or jib sheet trimming when heeled over. These are the little details one learns about when sailing these boats. Not something that jumps out during a boatshow. Finally, access to the water is through the walk-through transom. The raised helm seat lowers on it's hinges allowing one to walk through. A gate is provided to seal off this area when underway. A stainless steel and teak swim platform provides all the functionality of the scoop stern found on a newer Sceptre 43. Step easily into the dinghy or climb out of the water from the attached swim ladder hung beneath this platform.  Spend a few hours aboard with us and you'll see why we're passionate about this Sceptre 41.
