Sou’wester has a large custom teak swim platform with a swim ladder and boarding ladder to the cockpit. Once aboard, the transom seating bench with storage below provides ample seating for 4. The gunnels measure 30 inches in height providing for a safe security for your tallest passengers. On the port side bulkhead there is a supply locker and locker for the clothes washer. On the starboard bulkhead is a trash locker and line a locker. The shore-power connections are located under the gunnels. There are a couple of rod holders for fishing on the non-skid deck that measures 5’+ by 11’+. The center hatch lifts to expose ample below deck storage for fender boards, boat hooks etc.. The collapsible Binimi top maximizes comfort on those hot summer days.
The entrance to the salon is through a custom swing mahogany glass door and a similar screen door. The large wrap-around settee to starboard has seating for at least 5 people at a large portable custom collapsible mahogany table. The galley is to port and provides all that a cook could want. The three burner electric Princess stove has a large oven and a powered vent above to exhaust cooking odors. Refrigerated food is located in the attractive Wilbur styled food locker. Another Wilbur custom mahogany option is the crockery and glass racks. Clean-up duties are handled in the large double stainless sinks. A/C outlets are numerous through-out the salon.
The centerline height of 6’9” along with three forward windows, two large port and starboard, port aft window (all windows have privacy covers or curtains) and aft door window makes for a spacious salon. The comfortable temperatures are attained via the Cruise Air-conditioning and when not in use the large forward window opens as well as the port rear and entrance door.
The oversized navigator’s seat to port has easy access to the large flat chart area and a/c control. There are four drawers below and cubby storage to port. One of the many engine room access hatches is outboard of the nav seat. The centerline of the salon teak and holly floor is removable to expose the engine space.
The helm station has all essential operational controls and navigational hardware. The bilge pump panel is at hand along with the fire suppression system, Tank Tender tankage meter, automatic windlass anchor, electric window wipers and trim tabs. A large chrome Ritchie compass sits front and center. Furuno radar and Raymarine C80 tridata provide the way ahead. Kobelt clutches are in easy to use locations. Roberston auto pilot steering and an engine syncro system provide much ease of operation.
As you descend the companionway immediately to starboard is the electric panel and to port is the guest cabin. This cabin has its own large hanging locker and built in bureau with large mirror. The top and bottom berths are trimmed in mahogany and feature hull lattice boards. Both these berths measure 6’ 6” and are ample wide. The standing center of the lower cabins is 6’6”. There is ample natural light emitting from 2 opening ports and a large overhead hatch with screen.
The very attractive head features small hand-laid tile on the entire floor and in the separate shower. The mahogany joinery work is what you expect for Wilbur and the seat in the shower is practically comfortable to sit on. The shower also features a glass folding door. The vanity sink and hot and cold pressurized water comes standard. Jabsco toilet, opening ports and ample storage for all needed supplies complete the package.
Upon entering the private stateroom you have a large hanging locker to starboard and a custom 4-drawer bureau with fiddle and mirror to port. There is a large step provided to the 6’6” v-berth that has more storage and an air conditioning unit below.
The Volvos have recently had the rear main seals replaced. The engines are connected to Twin Disc MG 506-1 transmissions. There is an automatic oil change pump system. The genset is a Westerbeke 8 KW with 508hours. The auto fire suppression, sea water strainers and fuel filters are with-in easy serviceable reach. The battery’s are central and low between both engines and they consist of 4 (new 2014) Lifeline AGM 8 D’s. There is a 100amp 12volt starter battery for the genset. Overhead lighting and a/c outlets make working below easy in this spacious engine room.
The foredeck features a teak bow pulpit and safety railing from the salon helm station forward. The plow anchor is regulated by a Muir windlass with controls at the bow/flybridge helm/salon helm with 30’ of chain on greater than 100’ of nylon rode-line. A spare Danforth anchor lies in chocks at the ready on the cabin house and another Danforth is found below decks in the cockpit. The anchor locker is split with nylon rode connected to ample amount of chain.
This spacious flybridge has fore and aft facing dual seating for a total of 8 permanent seats. The helm is a starboard helm with repeater engine panels, trim tab control, gps and polished Ritchie compass. The storage in each seat box and under the helm console is voluptuous. The safety life raft is cradled on this top deck.
The custom electrical panel with all battery switching is within easy access from the salon helm station. The AC side of the panel features two meters and likewise for the DC side. The genset controls are located on this panel as well as a battery condition meter. There is a 50 amp 300 Quad battery charger. The water heater is an Atlantic Marine Products A 20 gallon heater.
