Stoutly built in 1983, by Chung Hwa Boat Building Co., in Taiwan, and known as a Chung Hwa double cabin motor yacht 45, Tradewinds is a fine example of a classic family trawler. This is a made to order boat which has only had 2 previous owners. Her original owner was the Perkins distributor for Massachusetts, and had the Perkins engines installed in her because of their fame for a quiet ride. She is an ideal live-aboard with ample accomodations and a tasteful and well laid out interior outfitted with an abundance of beautiful teak.
The galley stove, microwave, coffee maker, etc. are all 120v AC. The galley has an electric 3 burner glass top range with electric oven. There is also an icemaker. The refrigerator is a new Norcold 2 door fridge, 110V/12V. The galley is easy to work in, is quite open and allows that person to remain in the entertainment conversations. The dinette seats four easily.
The interior is pleasant. Chung Hwa has fitted a massive amount of teak in this vessel that is finished in matte varnish. The joinery is very good. The saloon is tastefully decorated and functional. A 20'' color tv is on a counter at the aft end. Sofas, chairs and a coffee table make living easy. The engine/generator spaces are under the floor, accessible by opening one of two heavily constructed hatches. The inside steering station has all controls, gauges and electronics, duplicated on the upper bridge. Down three steps forward of the saloon finds the galley to port and a dinette to starboard.
Forward again one finds the guest accommodation with an upper and lower berth to port, and a head with shower and access to the chain locker.
The owner's stateroom aft is commodious and attractive in decor. The head/shoer area here is larger, and a small batch tub is installed. There is lots of storage space, both hanging locker and drawer space. The ship's water tanks area under the bed.
4 steel diesel tanks, capacity 600 gallons.
2 aluminum water tanks, capacity 300 gallons.
Tradewinds is powered by two ST 6.354 (M) diesel engines (215HP each), using Borg Warner transmissions, turning 2'' stainless steel shafts. Engine controls/cables are Morse. Steering is Capilano hydraulic steering.
