The GB 42 Europa is of the classic Grand Banks pedigree with a practical layout, sturdy fiberglass construction, deep water design, and long range capability which all add up to a complete cruising boat. The Grand Banks semi-displacement hull design, with a fine entry forward, hard chines aft, and a full keel has been proven on waters around the world. In production since the 60s, the Grand Banks 42 is ideal for a couple with children or guests, her forward staterooms providing ample space and comfort.
No matter the weather, there is no better design for enjoying our PNW waters than a Europa. The covered side decks and traditional spacious GB Europa cockpit with full enclosure provide well-protected outdoor spaces for comfortable year-round activity and expanded, one-level living. And Dutchess is an amazing example. Her current owner, the third, has kept her in a boat house and owned her for over 20 years, maintaining her to meticulous standards. She is virtually all original and in better condition than many newer boats we have seen.
Spend the day setting traps, or luring in that tyee salmon. Then enjoy the day’s catch and a “sundowner” while swinging gently at anchor.Dutchess offers a thoughtful list of equipment including two refrigerator/freezer units for storing all that crab and salmon. Once on the hook, enjoy the freedom allowed by her 7.5kW genset and inverter. After enjoying that dinner in her warm enclosed cockpit, the zoned hydronic diesel furnace system will welcome you back inside for a cozy evening. Her signature large windows provide generous all around views and natural light, affording the feeling of being connected to the water and your surroundings. All of this combines to make her a very inviting vessel that is ready to head north under your command.
Board Dutchess via either side gate or the transom gate and be welcomed into the spacious fully-enclosed cockpit with lovely wicker chairs and table. From there, step through a pair of teak and glass sliding doors into the warm and inviting interior.
Dutchess features the traditional GB Europa 2-stateroom layout—the Master Stateroom forward with a v-berth. Cabinets, counters and a large hanging locker make for plenty of stowage forward along with an optional en-suite vanity sink. The VIP stateroom is to port and includes a double berth for additional sleeping accommodations. The shared head/shower compartment is to starboard.
Steps lead up to the main cabin where there is a starboard side helm with a side door and helm seat. The L-shaped galley is to port with ample dishware stowage and refrigeration. In the large sitting area of the main salon there is an L-settee and lovely teak yacht table. To starboard is a large cabinet for entertainment equipment, stowage and a second refrigerator/freezer unit. With the aft doors opened wide, the Salon and enclosed cockpit provide ample all-season living space.
The Europa model features great amounts of stowage for extended trips and the covered side and aft decks make it a perfect Northwest cruiser.
