FREEDOM is an all-fiberglass Grand Banks 42 Classic trawler powered by twin 117 horsepower John Deere diesel engines providing economical (3 GPH @ 8 kt) and trouble-free cruising. Owned by a knowledgeable yachtsman for the last sixteen years, she has been maintained to a very high standard and has seen recent upgrades that make her look much younger than her age. Aggressively priced, she is a tremendous value and is ready to provide new owners with years of cruising enjoyment.
FREEDOM is a first-generation all-fiberglass tri-cabin design with guest quarters forward featuring a v-berth and dedicated head, and master stateroom aft with ensuite head that includes a private bathtub and shower. Berthing accommodations are separated by the salon, galley and lower helm station to provide privacy for two or more couples while cruising.
Onboard systems have been continuously updated and include new wiring, electrical distribution system and lighting throughout, new fresh-water Vacu-Flush toilets in both heads and updated interior details including a new headliner. Her interior features high-gloss teak cabinetry and flooring accented by brass lighting fixtures that add warmth and charm to the classic interior. Finally, her galley is designed with a serious cook in mind. Equipped with separate Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer, trash compactor, propane stove with oven, and microwave, she leaves little for the cook's wish list.
Belowdecks are the mechanical spaces, home to the twin John Deere (American Marine edition) diesel engines as well as all of the onboard support equipment. The electrical system is fortified with both an Onan 5 kW diesel generator and a Xantrex inverter with dedicated battery bank. A Webasto diesel-fired hot-air heater provides abundant interior heat for year-round cruising.
In recent years, FREEDOM has been used as an occasional in-city home by a busy executive and has not been cruised as extensively as she once was. As a result, her dated navigational electronics were removed leaving an empty canvas for placement of new up-to-date electronics of her new owner's choosing. Compass, autopilot and VHF radios remain but her present owner relies on a GPS-equipped tablet computer for chart-plotting duties (not included in sale of vessel).
