Southern Cross is a beautiful example of the popular Grand Banks 42 Classic. She has received very good care through her ownerships, and has received important upgrades in recent years. These include:
Additionally, Southern Cross has received a new genset in '00, new Force 10 stove, and Isotherm refrigeration. Her hull finish is excellent, and the bottom has been stripped recently and barrier coated.
For one seeking a GB42 in great, turn key condition, and with work performed that will keep her easy to maintain for many years to come, Southern Cross should be considered.
New to the market 8/2016. Southern Cross has had only 3 owners in her life span, and presents as having had great care in her lifetime.
The interior of Southern Cross is beautifully finished in satin varnished teak, with a teak parquet sole, and white or wall papered bulkheads in some areas for a lighter effect. All windows and ports have curtains or drapes, and sun curtains for all attach to the outside.
The main cabin is entered mid-ships to port, or at the helm door to starboard. Forward in the cabin, to port, is the well appointed galley. This was re-freshed recently with new counter tops and a new Force 10 propane stove with an oven, and a new Isotherm refrigerator with a freezer. This unit is under the counter, and the original Grand Banks door was retained to hide the modern new refrigerator. There is abundant storage areas for stores and galley gear, including a locker above the galley, aft.
Next aft, to port, is the entrance door, followed by a large counter with cabinets, running to the bulkhead. The forward locker was once another refrigerator, and has since been converted to an excellent storage locker for manuals, etc. Several drawers are next, followed by the microwave oven.
Forward to starboard is the spacious helm station. All of the electronics are mounted at the fly bridge, thus this area is uncluttered and attractive, with the varnished teak wheel. A door is next aft, allowing access to the decks, easing boat handling.
Aft of the helm door is a large cabinet, designed specifically as a bar. This is followed by a large "L" shaped settee, upholstered in a light green ultra leather. A dining table is deck mounted to serve the settee.
The forward stateroom offers v-berths with a seat between. There are large drawers underneath. Aft to port is a generous sized hanging locker. to starboard is a private head area with Vac-u-Flush marine toilet, vanity with sink, and a shower.
The master stateroom is aft. To port of the passageway aft is a very large hanging locker. There are double berths port and starboard, and a bureau located aft, to starboard. Slightly to port is a companionway to the aft deck. Forward in the stateroom is the larger of the two heads; this one having a bath tub / shower. The marine toilet is a Vac-u-Flush unit, and the vanity with sink is very generous in size.
