Broker's Note: Please, please, don't let the year of manufacture fool you. This vessel is an excellent value. Her shear line and bow rake are relevant to modern designs. Mr. Shaw, designer, was way ahead of his time when drafting this design. Her 4 cylinder Westerbeke runs great, very good sail inventory, Hull in outstanding condition. If you are looking for a cruising/racing boat in this range, I highly recommend this vessel. Art
This Pearson P-36 has been very well cared for. This Bill Shaw design, which incorporates Spartan good looks with modern underbody and sail plan, is very popular for cruising and racing. Her current owner has maintained her in good shape doing projects every year. He is a boatyard professional so she is well maintained. Most recently, she has had: a new 135% Genoa by Squeteague Sailmakers, microfiber lower settee cushions both sides, jib sheets and main sheets, 2 - 6 volt Trojan batteries and one Rolls Group 31 battery, stripped bottom paint with fresh Pettit ablative coating, new CD AM FM stereo with inter & exterior speakers, custom vinyl covered closed cell foam cockpit cushions, resewn canvas, new Garhaur Rigid Vang System, new jib sheet lead blocks, and a new seas strainer. Her engine runs flawlessly and propels her at 6.5 knots under power. She has a solid fuel heater with the proper Charley Noble fitting for on deck. She is set up for either cruising or racing. She does have spinnaker gear but no chute.
This is an excellent versin of a very popular cruising/racing boat. She is most often sailed comfortably single handed with her Raytheon 4000 AutoHelm System which works great. Current photos show her in process of decommissioning for the season with no cushions, although they are either new or in very good condition.
This vessel is solidly built, with excellent AWLgripped topsides and a tight deck system. Well equipped for cruising the Cape and Islands or set for other shores. If you are in the market for a P-36, this is the one you will most likely buy. Well cared for, ready to go.
Her interior is mostly varnished teak with sleeping accommodations for seven in a very open, airy cabin layout. Her V-berth is very large, with filler and storage lockers, drawers, and shelves. The main salon is quite open with both transom and opilot berths port and starboard that sleep four with lockers under pilot berths. The centerline salon table contains storage in the center. The L-shaped galley is aft to starboard with propane two burner stove and oven, also stainless sink and HUGE molded ice box. There's also hot & cold pressure water to sink along with a manual fresh water backup. Port aft is a large single berth.
