Holiday, an H-28 built in 1951 in Quebec, was one of L. Francis Herreshoff’s most famous designs and sails like a dream. With a very modest draft she is not only secure in shallow waters, but also good to windward and stable enough to carry full sail to over 20knots on any point of sail and is a dream to reef with endless sail combinations. Cockpit is large and the cabin is surprisingly roomy. She is a great day sailor and easy weekender, a joy to handle alone or with help.
In 1993, she was cold molded over the wood hull, with two diagonal layers of 6mm mahogany marine ply. In 2003, the engine was replaced with a Volvo 28hp with only 700 hours. All stainless steel rigging was new in 2013, and in 2015, a new L Francis-designed bowsprit was added. Includes 2013 8’ pram tender with sail rig and oars. She has been extremely well maintained with no hiccups in this owner’s history.
